MCS Friends News Feed

MCS Friends News Feed

MCS Friends operates an open-to-all, one-way email list to provide news and information relevant to MCS, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity.

  • E-mail addresses will not be shared with others on the list. All addresses and information will be kept confidential within our team of volunteers at MCS Friends.
  • It’s easy to add yourself to the list! Just send email to mcsfriends.newsfeed@yahoo.com and request to be added. It is also that easy to be removed from the list. You do not have to join a group, or donate, although MCS Friends always welcomes new members.
  • We send out one or two “news feeds” per month. Feel free to share this news feed and our email address, mcsfriends.newsfeed@yahoo.com with friends who may want to add themselves to our email list.
  • Topics we will cover:
1. Upcoming webinars, news pieces and links to helpful information relevant to MCS.
2. Updates about housing projects for MCS.
3. News about MCS Friends, and special meetings that we host.
Here are two sample news feeds to give you an idea what it will be like.

Hello to 856 map members!

This is to invite all those who had joined my Persons With MCS Map to please now join the much improved MCS map at http://www.diseasemaps.org/en/multiple-chemical-sensitivity/! I hope you will all click on that link and join us on the new map. I think you’ll really love the new features.

The new map is still non-profit, ad-free, respects your privacy, and shows the world that we exist, while allowing complete anonymity if you choose. However, this map lets you connect within the map if you enable that option!

See you on the new map! -Katya

Persons with disabilities that prevent them from reading or holding paper books can use the free library for the blind available from the Library of Congress and the American Foundation for the Blind. The disability can be a non-visual physical disability and needs to be certified by a nurse, doctor, or therapist. SSD diagnosis is not required. The Library supplies a free tape player and the loaned “books” are on memory cards that are fairly easy to clean and air out compared to paper books. At least one MCS Friends member uses this service regularly.

We will have a presentation by a staff member of Allsup who is aware of MCS and works as an educator on the SSD application process. They will speak for 20 minutes and then take questions from the audience. We also hope to have a success story or two from MCS people who have recently received SSD. If you would like to share your success story please contact us.

The date of the call is Tuesday, May 17th, at 2 pm. Eastern Time.
Dial-in number 712-770-4010 access code 735-129
It’s open to the public, so please invite your friends!

The ADA National Network hosts periodic webinars about accessibility.
These webinars are an opportunity to learn about accommodations in public places, as well as ask questions about accommodating MCS, which helps raise awareness. Here is a link to an upcoming webinar about accommodations in alternative transportation. The registration deadline is April 29 for the May 4 event.
